These patterns were written as a resource for my beginner students, as an introduction to hand sewing. They can also be adapted for machine sewing.
One pattern (blue palette) uses the original shapes that you see in this pattern (parallelograms, triangles, and squares). With this pattern, quilters can practice sewing Y seams (very easy by hand), and create their own elegant, classic rendition of this design.

The other pattern (pink palette) creates the same design, using only squares and half square triangles. This version is a little bit simpler, no Y seams, and introduces students to the shortcut for making half square triangles, which also prevents stretching when stitching on the bias.

Both patterns include detailed, step-by-step instructions, hand drawn illustrations, and full scale pattern pieces. Available in hard copy or as a printer-friendly PDF download.
